Speaking at Biovision-Kerala-International Biotechnology Conference

I have been to many colleges as a speaker on Entrepreneurship. Here I got an altogether different experience as this was my first academic conference as an invited speaker and judge for poster presentation.

The special feature was that the convener and the faculties are my readers at Biotechnologist2020.com through which they get connected to me..

I got to meet many other faculties from other colleges from Kerala and Karnataka who are also the readers of BT2020...It was a great moment to hear them that they read BT2020 regularly..

Sahrdya College of Engineering and Technology at Thrisur organised this International conference on Industrial Biotechnology on 15-17 November 2008..The campus is green... really awesome ...The faculties and the students here are very supportive, ambitious and helping..

I need to mention Dr.Satheesh who was the convener of the event who helped me to get my air tickets sponsered..He is now working as the guest faculty at Libiyan University..We used to chat many times over Gtalk..He used to tell me that he is worried with the trend that many of his brilliant B.Tech students from the department used to jump to IT/ ITes sector during campus interview as it gives more pay leaving Biotechnology behind ..He always want to motivate his students to persue higher education and research in this field. He wanted to show them various opportunities available in higher education and entrepreneurship.

So I got an opportunity to talk on "Carrer opportunities in BT and Bio-entrepreneurship" at the end of which I got invitations from few other nearby colleges in Kerala and ofcourse in Libiya...I have no words to express my gratidude to Dr.Satheesh for his support and encouragement..It is a fact that I had no faculties like him during my college days..

I gave my best in preparing my talk with many case studies, mulitimedia, sample business plans and other interesting facts which I have been learning right from my undergraduation on Entrepreneurship..I am also checking out the possibilties of forming an entrepreneurship club with many regular activities like B-plan competition, workshops and invites lectures..I need to see to that after returning to Chennai..

Here is a picture taken with some of our readers(organising students) at Biovision..I will upload more pictures and write about my experiences at Biovision in detail soon..

Day-01@ The art of Project Management - 2 days with Mike Provins

Thank God..Today is an exciting day and even tomorrow should be more than this ...Yes finally I made it to the Business Management Consultatants(BMC) -PMD 2 days workshop on The art of Project management link by Mr.Mike Provins who was with many Fortune 500 companies..

I was all preparing for the CII-Expo cum Conference on "Renewable Energy" yesterday...But I got a group mail from the Chennai Entrepreneurs Club(CEC) last mid night saying that the PWD is extending 2 complimentary invitations(worth $900) for the chennai club and those interested have been asked to mail and register with PWD Consultant Mr.Chandrasekar Swamy..

I was then just mailing to PWD introducing myself and the Project JaRID in half mind at 02.00 AM just to see their response..I never expected anything from PMD...Then by 06.00 AM, I moved to bed as the laptop unusually started giving some problems and also accidentally I put my mobile in silence..

By 8.00AM, Mr.Swamy from Mumbai office seemed to have called me and messaged me asking me to go and attend the event..But I was sleeping..Then by 9.15AM, he just tried my land line and this time I woke up to attend the call assuming that it would be another wrong call made by someone to disturb my sleep..

But I was surprised to have Mr.Swamy at the other end asking me to take up the offer..Thanks to Mr.Swami not just for the special offer he has given though the actual offer was invalid but he said in his sms that he was very much impressed by the Project JaRID and the work done till date and that he wishes to extend a special offer for me..and also he has taken so much care to make me feel comfortable at the venue by informing his Mumbai colleagues at Chennai..and also there were some sms'ses from him after that asking me whether I was comfortable with the arrangements..But I was able to see all the messages only after 18.00 hours at the end of the 1st day of the workshop as I have switched off my mobile after entering the hotel..

Finally I entered the hotel one hour late by 10.30AM and great to see Mike and Mr.G.D.Mittal from PMD who is the organiser...

I was given BMC training kits and voluminous manuals on project management..We had exciting practice sessions, training on various tools and techniques of Project management and off course the exciting lectures by Mike...

Mr.Mike is such a great speaker, management consultant and an interesting personality..Got to learn many practical things from him today..

BMC Self-evaluation kits were really eye-opening and making me more conscious about my management skills& abilities to sustain in the venture.. The kits infact wake me up to the fact that there is so much for me to learn and implement in day-to-day life...The 1st day of the workshop really taught me many management tools, techniques and concepts to enhance my managerial skills, ability, mindset and personality in each of the managerial functions right from planning to controlling and reporting...

The afternoon session was bit difficult for me to understand as it was on something about fully hardcore theory and mathematics based session..But I hope I can learn it soon..

Also Happened to meet other corporate people cum fellow participants from Chennai and Mumbai who were sponsored by their companies..They are also inspiring and making me to learn something from each one of them..

I was so touched and moved by the love and care showered by Mr.Swami, Mr.Mittal from PMD-Mumbai and Mr.Mike Provins..Thanks to each one of you..my heart-felt gratitude goes to Mr.Padmanaban who is the organizer of the Chennai Entrepreneur Club by whom I was able to know about the great workshop..

Still much to explore tomorrow..Excited really...!

Its been many a times that Project JaRID at the first sight impresses many management experts right from the Student in Free Enterprises (SIFE)-Chennai and Mumbai events where it caught the attention of consultants from Eastman,HSBC,KPMG,PWC,Reliance Money,Syntel Corp etc....

Thanks to the whole Team JaRID...Its been taking me to so many places...I believe that we have the potential to make it happen...Lets put our efforts across..!

I just moved out of the bio-diesel illusion and wanna explore all possible renewable energy technologies...Thanks to Mr.Vikranth of Rudra Bioventures...It was a meetup with him recently at Banglore where he has broadened my mindset over alternative energy...Though many people advised me to explore all possible technologies over the years, it was that meetup at Banglore that changed my mindset ...

Its indeed great to have great complimentary offer (worth $450) from"The Chennai Entrepreneurs Club" to attend Business Management Consultatants(BMC) -PMD 2 day workshop on The art of Project management link by Mr.Mike Provins on11-12 June..I feel both of these events are like my two eyes... There was an intro session,Dinner,Mobile blogging session,Some blog games and a 30 minutes play based on bloggers by the theaterical group THE REBELZ followed by the last session by the sponsers(MS) on Microsoft-Live writter..and thats what makes Microsoft to sponser the event..to market their products...But yes it was a funfilled evening...

NDTV crew has added the glamour to the event.
Thanks to Indiblogger,MS and Lemonade the organizer..
They also gave some cool t-shirts..

Come after some time, we will have next edition of our own TKF-Blogcamp soon..

Banglore meetups -Start up city conf and CEO conclave

This time the banglore trip consist of a conference cum CEO conclave and some meetups..

The SmartTechie magazine in partnership with SiliconIndia had organized this Startup City conference .. was reflecting on the day that was. I have only one comment .. wow !

The whole day Nimhans Convention center(where the event was held) was buzzing with entrepreneurs, wannabe entrepreneurs, VCs, corporates and so on …If someone wanted a reflection on how Bangalore’s entrepreneur community is thriving s/he should have just visited the event.

There were around 250 startup companies and MNC's participating the event..Most of them have put up their stalls..

Sessions-01
First session was on " Concept to Success: Milestones for startups " by Ashish Gupta, MD of Helion Venture partners.

Session-02
Then UnniKrishnan, Marketing Director of Sun Microsystems gave a talk on "Sun's startup Essentials program..I really enjoyed it..

Session-03
Then came the most interesting session "Innovative Marketing Applications in Technology " by IIM-B professor Dr.Y.L.R.Murthy..
Some of Moorthi’s candid remarks like
‘Marketing is too serious a stuff to leave it to Marketing professors or Marketing professionals’
‘Technology has the shelf life of a banana’ got me thinking. How true!

The Marketing Panel discussion was quite insightful as Paul Murphy, Director of Innovation, Microsoft India emphasized on the importance of Business case, on building products that customer wants, and Marketing in Promoting ideas, Bharath Chinamanthur from Amazon India Development Center and Suresh Vedula, Head - Business Mobility, from Nokia India expounded on their experiences.

Session-04
It was on cloud computing by some Amazon.com Evangelist.

Session-05
It was on " My Entrepreneurial Journey" by Rajendra Mishra(R.K.Misra ) of Change India Movement. He was positively charging the audiences..I enjoyed this session too coz its R.K.Mishra right..!

CEO Conclave:
Sharad Sharma ,Yahoo India CEO, proved to be a great moderator in the CEO Conclave. On the panel there were Kris Gopalakrishnan,CEO-Infosys,Praveen, President-Intel India and Vivek ,Country Manager of Dell India...It was alos a good session participated by around 120 CEO's from startup companies and established companies..

Sharad Sharma made a very apt comment about Bangalore and it’s start-up friendly environment.
” Even in Services boom it somehow transpired that Bangalore based start-ups like Wipro , Infosys were much more successful then ones from rest of India(Pune, Delhi and so on ..). It must have something to do with the fact that these entrepreneurs were much more willing to reinvent their companies when needed. ”

Meet the VC's:
In this meet, there were around 12 Venture Capital firms took part including YES bank,Ojas Ventures, Sequoia Capital India,IDG Ventures,Helion Ventures,Cannan Partners etc..

BT2020 readers meetup:
Then I had my own BT2020 readers meet up which you can find at BT2020-Bangalore readers meet up video cast

Meet with Vikranth:
I just moved out of the bio-diesel illusion and wanna explore all possible renewable energy technologies...Thanks to Mr.Vikranth of Rudra Bioventures...It was a meetup with him recently at Banglore where he has broadened my mindset over alternative energy...Though many people advised me to explore all possible technologies over the years, it was that meetup at Banglore that changed my mindset ...

And then I met up with my school,UG and PG college mets...Thats it..!

Isha is changing me..!

When I was schooling, during summer duration I was put at many RSS camps and Ramakrishna Maths where I learnt many forms of yoga, meditation, pranayama and food...But I was following all these only upto my 12th standard..

After entering in to college at VIT, everything has gone with the wind though I tried many a times to continue doing what I was doing at my school days..But all in vain..

Now am into the professional life..so I felt the importance of getting back to basics to keep me mentally, physically and emotionally fit and healthy..

So, I enrolled myself to IshaYoga 's 7 day programme...though I still try for continuous daily yoga.. I dont not want to be spiritual but just take the good points in these programs and systems which are scientifically proven.

It has changed my food habits..Now I am into natural foods twice a day taking modern food once in a day..I take raw vegetables and fruits as my dinner & pulses and some juices as my breakfast..So now I see myself going only once to hotel and vegetable market many a times...I have been doing this from the day-1 when I heard about the relationship between food habits and emotions/mental health.

So many taught me about natural food at many point of time..But it was only at Isha, I changed myself to it..

My first paper presentation on Management Sciences

I used to present so many papers atleast /minimum 1 paper in a semester during my B.Sc Biotechnology course at VIT University...I really liked it..It gave me so much of outworld exposure and friends...and then I dropped the frequency of paper presentations at my M.Sc course at SRM University..

Now I am into parttime/online M.B.A....herecomes my first paper on Management sciences..

I just yesterday presented a paper on "Business ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) in India" taking into account various strategies followed by Indian corporates like TATA and ITC Ltd here at Pondicherry Central University in an UGC sponsored joint National conference on " Business ethics, Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility" in partnership with The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI)..

Happened to hear people like Pondicherry former CM, MP's,Ministers for Industries,Development commisioner & secretary of Pondicherry Govt,President of Pondicherry Industries Association and others on many management topics..

There were also some interesting lectures from corporates out of which I like the one on "Beyond fear, uncertainty and doubt...the risk about the risk"
by
Mr.Gan.Subramaniyan ,Global Security Lead of Accenture and SBI-RM lecture..

Thanks to BT2020-Pondicherry readers-Vivek..who made my stay memorable with them in the University..
Ok..Now back to Chennai...Bye Pondy...!See you soon..!

Man and Woman

Man discovered COLORS and invented PAINT ; Woman discovered PAINT and invented MAKEUP .

Man discovered the WORD and invented CONVERSATION ; Woman discovered CONVERSATION and invented GOSSIP .

Man discovered AGRICULTURE and invented FOOD ; Woman discovered FOOD and invented DIET .

Man discovered FRIENDSHIP and invented LOVE ; Woman discovered LOVE and invented LOVE TRIANGLES .

Man discovered TRADING and invented MONEY ; Woman discovered MONEY and invented SHOPPING .

That’s it!!!

Thereafter man has discovered and invented a lot of things… While women are still STUCK...

There is a common saying which goes something like this

Behind every successful man there is a woman

My friend thinks that this is only half the story. His version goes something like this:

Behind every successful man there is a woman. That man should be appreciated because in spite of her, he was successful”..!
